Forest Green Rovers CEO Henry Staelens has accused the famous old Yorkshire club of being stuck in the 1960s after being refused entry to the Valley Parade boardroom for refusing to wear a tie.
Staelens, who was only thirty-years-old when he became the youngest CEO in the EFL following his appointment in 2018, revealed via a tweet how his breach of the Valley Parade boardroom dress code caused him to be declined entry.

Despite four other Forest Green directors donning the correct attire and watching from the directors’ box, Staelens refused the offer of a tie and went instead into the away end to watch Rovers pick up three valuable League Two points in a 1-0 victory.
Gloucestershire Live claim the club have made no official complaint to Bradford City. The Bantams have declined to comment on the incident.
Fans soon took to social media to reply to the post with many pointing out club’s abide by FGR’s vegan policy when visiting their New Lawn without causing a fuss and advised Staelens to show a touch more humility and respect.
Fans of FGR, a relative newcomer to the EFL with a two-year Football League history, tended to back the boardroom rebel.
