James Meredith is training with Portsmouth with a view to a permanent move, as reported by the Portsmouth News.
The former Australia international left Millwall at the end of July in search of regular first team football and he’s looking likely to pop up on the south coast at some point this week, having spent time with Kenny Jackett’s squad.
The 31-year-old boasts Bradford City, York City and Sligo Rovers amongst his former clubs, but left Neil Harris’ side after 85 matches across a two-season spell.
He’s been capped twice by Australia and spent perhaps the best seasons of his career with Bradford City, whom he helped to the League Cup Final in 2013, although he wasn’t part of their Wembley squad.
Meredith is a left back, sound defensively and would offer options for Jackett at the back. For a player of his age and current status a one-year deal is likely as Pompey look to make their way up the League One table.
Fans have taken to Twitter to offer their thoughts on the defender’s potential move.
Thats good news, where has jackett had him training today, in goal ?!

If Brandon H is second choice to Meredith he might as well leave.
