Under fire Bury FC owner Steve Dale has once again been given a public platform by the Jim White show on talkSPORT to argue his case as the club edges ever closer to extinction.
After previously stating on the show he would have the proof of funds required by the EFL before the midnight deadline tonight to guarantee their continued membership of the Football League, he made a public on-air plea this morning for local businesses and fans to pledge £2.7 million to save the famous old club.
With the clock ticking, his erratic behaviour continues to threaten the existence of a club with a proud one hundred and thirty-four-year history.
Despite continued public assurances he wants to save the Shakers, news that the controversial owner has rejected several bids to sell Bury has led many fans to speculate he’s not being entirely transparent with his motives for taking over the club.
As the following selection of responses to the interview on Twitter illustrates, many fans believe Dale would prefer the club to go out of existence so he can benefit from the development potential of their Gigg Lane home.
Steve Dale is an asset stripping liquidation expert. He has and never has any interest in @buryfc. He has more to gain by letting the club go under. The #EFL never made in provide proof of funds when he took over. He's sat letting the clock tick down with a smile on his face🤬🖕

Is it the stadium and land around the ground that he wants and plans to develop on it after the club folds What other reasons would he want this hassle for @BuryCouncil if it is for future developments then you should have it in place that only football related development happen

All because of the actions of 2 men. Steve Dale will sell the land and get a few million from developers, yet the fans who have been going for decades are left without a club. Yeah, seems like a really fair punishment to me

It was last week he was claiming he has the money now he needs the money…. ? Yet this man has had 2 offers to sell the club? He don’t want to sell he wants them to go bust so he can sell all the assets and make some money.

Whilst I am very sceptical of Dale and his possible agenda I sincerely hope that his comments regarding @EFL are totally unfounded. They are a shambles but I really don't believe they are driving #Buryfc into oblivion
