‘Jackett needs to go Mr Eisner’ – Chairman misjudges the mood of these Portsmouth fans in social media post

Portsmouth drew their last League One fixture 3-3 in a disappointing night at Fratton Park which saw Coventry City come back from 3-1 down with nine men.

It brought criticism of Pompey boss Kenny Jackett from supporters concerned at their mediocre start to the season. Jackett’s men have won only one of their opening four League One matches in a season Portsmouth fans fully expect to mount a serious challenge for a return to the Championship.

However, Portsmouth chairman Michael Eisner has taken to social media to give his support to the under-fire boss and rally the fans to get behind Jackett and his staff.

Pompey fans soon reacted to the tweet, with many disagreeing with Eisner and calling for the Welshman to leave the club. Amongst other things, they criticised Jackett for his dour football style, perceived lack of passion in his team’s displays and poor tactics.

While there was some support for Jackett, on the whole, it appears Eisner might have misjudged the mood of many Pompey fans who seem to be losing faith in their boss, as the following selection of tweets demonstrates.

  1. For the last 3 years we have given away goals from set pieces..Kenny Jackett has not rectified this at any time.. His tactics are not good enough to get us out of this league. We need to say goodbye to him..

  2. Whilst I respect your comments, KJ has lost the respect of the fans and it is time to start looking for a manager who is interested in attacking football. You speak about passion, but he just stands there with his s=arms folded and has no passion and is unable to motivate the players.

  3. We had good money in the transfer mkt we should have bought good players i think a lot of players don’t like KJ style of football so won’t come to pompey so get ŕid off KJ

  4. I think KJ should be given a few more games as the squad needs to settle, but let’s not forget that our failure to win promotion last season was entirely down to Jackett for relying on loan players. I wonder whether McCrorie will still be there after January.
Make a mistake once and it is forgiven. Repeat it and you’re a fool.
I also wonder exactly what Mr Eisner is bringing to the party – shame so many fan owners wanted their £1,000 back.
