Aston Villa youngster Callum O’Hare has joined Coventry City on a season-long loan, as announced by their official club site this afternoon.
The 21-year-old scored three goals in 16 matches for Carlisle during a spell in League Two last season and made his debut for Villa in August 2017. He’s since represented the Villans nine times and is an England Under 20 international.
It’s a move that’s bound to court some controversy amongst Birmingham City fans, who will now see talent from their bitter rivals calling their ground home this season. That aside, Sky Blues boss Mark Robins is delighted with the capture.
“Weโre pleased to welcome Callum to the Football Club,” he said.
“He is a naturally talented footballer, with great creative ability and an eye for goal too. He is at the stage of his development where it is important for him to get regular minutes in league football, and we look forward to working with him this season.”
Coventry go into this weekend’s fixture against Gillingham with a threadbare squad, courtesy of a double suspension after two dismissals in midweek. O’Hare will surely go straight into the squad to face Steve Evans’ side.
Fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news of O’Hare’s move, with a selection of their responses below.

He's rated as highly as Grealish was. He's our best upcoming youth player. Still needs to grow as a player of course but is so talented.

Could be a good signing only time will tell but I'm not sure how he fits in with what we've got and the way we have set our team out so far ? I hope this isn't a deal where we end up having to play him at the expense of a better player who is one of our own ๐ค
