Plymouth Argyle manager Ryan Lowe is set to make a new striker signing as reported by Plymouth Live.
The report claims the deal is all but done subject to the usual paperwork, but Lowe refused to reveal the name of his new player when quizzed by the press. He said: ‘We have signed a player today. We are just waiting for the paperwork to go through, so I can’t obviously give his name until then.’
‘He’s a striker, he’s an exciting talent, he has scored plenty of goals in a good league, and he gives us a different dimension, so I’m pleased.’
Lowe’s striking options have been limited in recent weeks due to injury with both Byron Moore and Joel Grant absent leading to 18-year-old Klaidi Lolos playing as a substitute in the last two games.
The former Bury boss has made no secret of his desire to add to his attacking options before the transfer window closes on September 2.
Argyle have won two, drawn one and lost one in a decent start to a season many expect to end with an immediate return to League One.
Our View
Pilgrim fans will be hoping this signing is the final piece in the promotion jigsaw.
A home draw and an away defeat in their last two fixtures have certainly proved to the Green Army that this season may not be the easy march to promotion many fans and pundits predicted.
Speculation has been quiet, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if a young prospect arrives on loan from a Premier League, Championship or Scottish side such as Rangers.
