James Norwood was one of the biggest names to emerge from League Two last season, smashing in goals for Tranmere as they earned promotion from the basement division.
His switch to Ipswich was one of the summers worst kept transfer secrets, rumoured long before he actually signed his deal. His arrival at Portman Road surely guarantees goals and yesterday, three matches into the season, he finally broke his duck.
The 28-year-old opened the scoring on four minutes, but saw the home sides own big-money strikers bag a goal each to give them a 2-1 lead. It stayed that way until the 75th minute when the Tractor Boys won a spot kick.
Up stepped Norwood, as sure and certain of himself as at any point last season. Christy Pym dived to his right and palmed the weak penalty to one side.
Luke Chambers spared Norwood’s blushes late in with a last-gasp equaliser, but it was unlike the forward to be so wasteful from 12-yards. However, it seems his new fans are in a forgiving mood, as you’ll see from the replies to his social media post below.
You’re off the mark lad, that’s the main thing. Keep your head. We love ya x #itfc

Surprised you went to the keeper's right… he's moving that way when you're two strides out. Still, you got one and now on the scorers list! 31 to go!

One of those things… we got a point and you’ll bag a brace on Tuesday night! 👍🏼
