As we covered earlier, Lincoln City are on the verge of signing Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker on a season-long loan deal.
Walker is hot property right now after bagging 22 goals in 44 matches for Mansfield Town last season. He almost fired them to automatic promotion, with the Stags only missing out on the last day in a ‘winner takes all’ encounter with MK Dons.
He returned to forest over the summer and was handed a chance with the first team, but boss Sabri Lamouchi has sanctioned a loan move. Walker has been the focus of attention for a number of clubs, with up to ten teams thought to have wanted him.
Twitter has been alight with Coventry City fans believing they’d signed the 22-year-old. Boss Mark Robins admitted he was targeting Walker a couple of weeks ago, but has now been forced to admit defeat.
Coventry, who won the FA Cup in 1987 and had almost half a century as a top-flight club, are a big side in League One but have not been able to tempt their target away from a side who have only been in the third tier once in three decades.
That’s something that doesn’t impress Sky Blues supporters, as you’ll read below.
Is it really an issue if walker doesn’t sign?

You can’t be telling me Walker is the be all and end all of our season… if he was that good he’d be playing in forests 1st team or the Prem 😅 #PUSB

Wait until Tyler Walker finds out what happens when Lincoln get a corner at a home game. #skyblues #PUSB

Tbh I think Walker would’ve been the final piece of the jigsaw but it’s not to be. The most important thing now is that we don’t rush into signing a mediocre striker just because we feel like we need one to challenge. It has to be the right person #PUSB

It’s a massive kick in the balls. We had a deal agreed for Walker for ages. He scored 23 goals in the league below and generally seemed the missing piece of the jigsaw. However sometimes you win sometimes you lose. Just got to get on with it and trust Robins. 🙌🙌#pusb #ccfc

The thing is, Robin’s wanted to buy him. He wasn’t for sale, so he went out on loan. I’m gutted he’s gone out on loan tbh. He’s one of our own, we the fans want him to have his chance. He deserves it after last season. FTID
