Oxford United ‘agree deal’ to sign Leicester City defender

Oxford United have agreed on a deal for Leicester City defender Elliott Moore as reported by the Leicester Mercury.

The young centre-back has been with the Foxes since the age of six but now looks set to join League One outfit Oxford United on a permanent deal. The twenty-two-year-old only signed a new contract in 2018 but is likely to depart the King Power stadium with one year remaining on his deal.

Moore is yet to make a senior appearance for Leicester but did make sixty-one outings during a two-year loan spell with OH Leuven, Leicester City’s sister club in Belgium.

The giant defender, who stands at 6ft 5in, has been involved in matchday squads, including in this summer’s first-team pre-season friendlies, but he is now set to leave the Premier League outfit in a bid to get regular first-team football.

Our View

Another excellent signing for Oxford who have left it late, but now seem to be getting it together and building a decent squad.

Moore is strong and commanding, and his excellent displays in Belgium mean Oxford have potentially fought off competition from Leuven for is signature.

U’s fans will now be heading into the season with renewed optimism after a busy few days of activity in the summer market.
