Portsmouth have signed Marcus Harness from Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee.
The twenty-three-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Fratton Park with the option of a further twelve months after scoring six goals in thirty-nine appearances for Burton last season.
The winger is a graduate of the Brewers Academy and made his Albion debut in September 2013 aged seventeen. He spent time on loan at Ilkeston and Aldershot before a successful season-long loan at Port Vale in 2017/18 convinced boss Nigel Clough of his worth and saw him establish himself in the Brewers first-team and sign a contract extension in January.
The move was greeted with disappointment by Brewers fans on social media with Harness having become a firm favourite at the Pirelli Stadium, and many questioned the ambition of the club for selling the pacey wide man.
Amongst speculation over the fee, most wished the player all the best, but selling your best player to rivals in the same division is never an easy pill to swallow, as you will see from the selection of responses to the news on Twitter.
Really is laughable. You deserve to be at a club with ambition Marcus, good luck

Can't say I'm happy about this, but good luck to him. Hopefully Cloughy has got some aces up his sleeve.

Gutted he’s gone. But wishing him all the very best for the new season. He’s a quality footballer.
