Scunthorpe United have signed former Plymouth Argyle midfielder Yann Songo’o on a free transfer.
The versatile midfielder who can also play in defence has penned a one-year deal with the Iron.
The twenty-seven-year-old started his career in Spain playing for Deportivo’s and Real Zaragoza’s youth teams either side of a short spell in France for FC Metz. He spent a year in the MLS with Kansas City before arriving at Blackburn Rovers in 2013. He spent two seasons at Ewood Park during which time he enjoyed a successful loan at SPFL side Ross County.
He joined Argyle in 2016, and in three seasons at Home Park, he made one hundred and twenty-one league outings, scoring two goals.
If the reaction to the news on social media by many Argyle fans is anything to go by, Scunthorpe have signed a technically limited player who always gives one hundred per cent.
The Cameroonian could become something of a cult hero at Glanford Park, with manager Paul Hurst moving quickly to replace the departing Funso Ojo.
Here is a selection of Argyle fans responses to the signing on Twitter which confirm Scunthorpe fans can expect some wholehearted performances from their new man, something many felt was sadly lacking from last years relegated squad.
