Portsmouth were in friendly action yesterday, registering a 2-1 win against Havant and Waterlooville.
Much of the focus has not been on the score, no the performance, but instead on a post-match interview which has some fans accusing manager Kenny Jackett of lying.
Jamal Lowe was named on the teamsheet for the game but didn’t play. After the match, Jackett claimed he’d been given the weekend off and immediately fans have smelled a rat.
It’s been widely reported Lowe has asked to leave Pompey amidst interest from Championship sides West Brom, Nottingham Forest, Millwall and Wigan, although Jackett has denied that. This latest bit of news likely to fuel that rumour.
In an attempt to dampen it Jackett confirmed the weekend off story, but why would he be given a weekend off? Unless it’s compassionate leave, he shouldn’t be jaded less than a fortnight into the pre-season and his name was amongst those expected to play.
These Portsmouth fans just want to be told the truth about last season’s leading scorer.
