Southend have signed Dundee FC defender Nathan Ralph on a two year deal with the option of a third.
The twenty-six-year-old had a year left on his contract in Scotland but triggered a release clause after the Dark Blues suffered the drop from the Scottish Premiership on the last day of the season.
Ralph was a firm crowd favourite at Dens Park and won a host of individual accolades at the end of 2018/19 including Player’s Player of the Season and the fans award.
He made thirty-two appearances for Dundee after joining from non-league Woking last summer.
He was considered to be one of the most consistent performers north of the border, and there was speculation that Championship clubs Barnsley and Hull City were interested in the full-back.
Dundee fans soon took to social media to sing the praises of their former favourite and were quick to tell Southend United supporters they can expect big things from their new arrival next season, especially in the air.
Here is a selection of their responses to the signing on Twitter.
