Portsmouth, Wycombe and Cambridge eye loan move for Norwich City winger

Norwich City winger Diallang Jaiyesimi looks set for a season-long loan ahead of the new campaign and Portsmouth, Wycombe and Cambridge United are all interested in the youngster according to Sky Sports.

The twenty-one-year-old was sent out on a season-long loan last season to Yeovil Town, but his campaign prematurely ended after he ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament during a 1-1 draw with MK Dons in September.

He managed eleven outings for the Glovers and scored two goals before returning to Carrow Road for surgery.

Before his injury, he made headlines for taunting 2000 travelling Aston Villa fans with a Fortnite goal celebration only for the goal to be ruled offside in the Glovers first round Carabao Cup defeat.

Jaiyesimi came through the Aspire Academy at Non-League Dulwich Hamlet before moving to Norwich in 2016.

The skilful forward scored eight goals in thirty-three games for the Norwich Under-23s during 2016/17 before joining up with Grimsby, where he scored one goal in thirty appearances as the Mariners avoided the drop out of the EFL.

The young forward signed a new three-year deal with the Canaries in November 2017. He is expected to be loaned out again to further his development according to the Sky report.

Our View

Jaiyesimi was doing well for Yeovil before his injury and could be a good signing for any of these clubs.

Indeed, some Glovers fans felt his injury was a turning point in the season from which they never recovered and was a factor in their relegation to the National League.

He has potential but needs to play, and so a move to League Two Cambridge United under ex-Canary Colin Calderwood might see him get more match minutes under his belt, and our feeling is he may well end up at the Abbey Stadium.
