Blackpool keeping tabs on 29-year-old Rangers winger

Blackpool are monitoring the situation of Rangers winger Jamie Murphy as reported by the Scottish Sun.

The twenty-nine-year-old is currently on the comeback trail after fighting back from a serious cruciate knee injury and is thought to be close to a return to the first-team reckoning at Ibrox after almost a year on the sidelines.

New Blackpool boss Simon Grayson is an admirer of the former Brighton winger having tried to sign him for Sunderland during his spell at the helm at the Stadium of Light and Blackpool are tracking his situation as they consider a move to try and lure Murphy back down south according to the report.

The Tangerines are currently in Scotland for a pre-season training camp and friendly against Dundee, and the report claims they could make a move once the former Motherwell youth product proves his fitness.

Murphy spent five years in England from 2013 to 2018, enjoying a stint at Sheffield United as well as Brighton before he fulfilled his boyhood ambition and secured a move to Rangers.

Our View

An ambitious step by Blackpool, on past form Murphy is too good for League One, but a loan may work for all parties as he looks to regain his match fitness.

Murphy is a Rangers fan and will want to stake his claim at Ibrox and some game time with the Seasiders may help him prove to Steven Gerrard he has a future in Glasgow.

If the move comes off it could be an exciting season at Bloomfield Road as the club looks to kick on after the nightmare it endured under the Oystons.
