Portsmouth made a key signing today, picking up defender Sean Raggett on a season-long loan from Premier League side Norwich City.
The 25–year-old rose to prominence whilst playing for Lincoln City, then in the National League. His last-minute header saw them reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, as well as him playing a key role in their title win.
He joined then-Championship side Norwich City, but struggled to impose himself at Carrow Road. Last season saw him loaned to Rotherham United in the Championship, but an injury cut his spell there short.
He’s still respected by all of his former clubs, even Dover Athletic whom he left to join Lincoln in 2016. With Rotherham being relegated and Lincoln promoted, he’s set to face both of his former clubs next season.
He moves to Fratton Park for the whole season and will likely be one of the players vying to replace the recently-departed Matt Clarke.
Fans of both his former clubs, as well as Pompey, have been reacting to the move on Twitter.
