Charlton Athletic winger Tariqe Fosu is set to sign for Oxford United as reported by London News Online.
The Addicks had offered the player a new deal, but it was only to ensure they could agree on a compensation package for the forward.
Fosu played his best football at the Valley under Karl Robinson, who quit the Addicks for Oxford in March 2018 and the report suggests the Kassam Stadium was always a likely destination for the twenty-three-year-old who scored nine goals in thirty-five appearances for Charlton in 2017/18.
He became a peripheral figure under Lee Bowyer finding the net twice in twenty-seven appearances last season.
The winger has enjoyed loan spells with Fleetwood, Accrington and Colchester and has made one-hundred and sixteen senior outings, hitting the target twenty-one times.
The report claims Karl Robinson is about to make Fosu a summer signing for the U’s and in doing so he will beat off reported competition from Lincoln City and Rotherham United for his signature.
Fosu showed previously under Robinson’s management he has the talent and ability to stamp his mark on games in League One and be a real influence on matches.
He can be inconsistent, but working under Robinson might once again bring out the best in the forward.
If this turns out to be the case, Oxford fans may well be in for a treat next season.
