Peterborough are one of the sides thought to be interested in a move for Liam Bridcutt, as reported by Alan Nixon.
The former Leeds man has found himself on the fringes of the Forest side, frozen out by Aitor Karanka and not offered a lifeline by new boss Martin O’Neill. He’s been at the City Ground for two years after leaving Leeds United for £1m.
Whilst Mark Warburton was a fan of the midfielder, subsequent managers have not been and he’s racked up just 28 league games for the former European Cup winners.
Bridcutt began his career at Chelsea and played Premier League football with Sunderland, but his career has taken a dive recently and he’s now on his way out of Forest.
Peterborough are currently in their third spell under manager Darren Ferguson, following Steve Evans dismissal last season. They’re throwing their weight around this summer, having a big bid for George Edmundson accepted and paying a seven-figure sum for Mo Eisa.
It’s thought Posh are looking for a way to do a deal on loan, having previously taken Jason Cummings from Forest.
Our View
This would be a good, solid acquisition for Posh. Bridcutt is experienced in the Championship and has only played one season below that level, with Brighton when they won promotion in 2011.
It might mean the end for Alex Woodyard though; he was club captain last season but plays in a similar holding role to Bridcutt.
