James Norwood is already making himself a firm favourite at Ipswich Town, but as yet he hasn’t kicked a ball in anger.
The former Tranmere striker swapped Prenton Park for Portman Road last week after an incredible season with Tranmere. His goals helped lift them to a play-off place which they came through, beating Forest Green in the semi-final before a last-gasp Connor Jennings strike won them a spot in League One.
Having only emerged from the National League 12 months before, it’s an incredible rise both for them and for Norwood. He’s spent much of his career in the fifth tier, but he’ll start the season leading the line for former UEFA Cup winners Ipswich Town.
Not only that, but he’s got on board with a charitable cause too. The Twitter account ‘Cobbold Massive’ has vowed to put a tenner into the pot whenever Norwood scores. there are a handful of other followers taking part and now ‘Lord’ Norwood himself has got on board.
He’s vowed to throw a tenner in whenever he scores, endearing himself to fans of the Tractor Boys before he’s even bagged one goal.
It’s a gesture that’s certainly caught the attention of their supporters, as you’ll see below.

This man isn't a millionaire he has played all his career playing on non league and lower leagues. Terrorising my team (Aldershot) a tenner per goal is a great gesture by a talented goal scorer. Good luck @jnorwood_10 (hopefully glad to see the back of you)

Welcome James, genuinely don't think anyone has been this excited about a new @ITFC signing for a long time! Really hope the move works out well for you.
