Grimsby Town have signed striker Matt Green on a two-year deal following his release from League Two rivals Salford City.
The thirty-two-year-old becomes manager Michael Jolley’s first summer signing and will add a wealth of experience to his squad as well as a tireless work rate and an eye for goal.
Green netted four times in twenty-one National League appearances for Salford last season after joining from Lincoln City in December. He missed the Ammies National League play-off final success at Wembley through suspension having been sent off in their final game of the regular season at Hartlepool.
He spent a season and a half at Sincil Bank scoring twenty-three goals in eighty games across all competitions for the Imps. Previously he enjoyed a successful spell at Mansfield and counts Birmingham City and Oxford United amongst several former clubs.
Grimsby fans soon took to social media to react to the signing with many delighted to land the much-travelled frontman.
