Midfielder Jamie Devitt is set to leave Carlisle United after turning down a new contract.
The Cumbrians confirmed today on the club’s official website that the twenty-eight-year-old has formally rejected the offer of a new deal to stay at Brunton Park.
Devitt made one hundred and thirty appearances and scored twenty-two goals in three seasons at Brunton Park after signing from Morecambe in 2016.
The playmaker was offered fresh terms at the end of the season after establishing himself as one of the most influential and best players at the club with manager Steven Pressley commenting that the deal offered would make the Irishman the best-paid player at the club.
However, Blues fans have been critical that a deal was not offered sooner and rumours persist that Devitt was only offered a one-year contract.
Speculation over the future of Devitt has been rife with Swindon said to be in the frame but facing competition from Plymouth and Blackpool.
Carlisle fans soon took to social media with many unhappy at how the club has dealt with the situation.
Here is a selection of their responses to the news on Twitter.

Just repeating the same mistakes as a club – how on earth can we back a bunch of idiots that can’t learn from previous like Nicky Adams. Can have whatever price on @officialcufc now

Oh good at least we aren't in turmoil… years of bad leadership has led to the joke that is this summer… and we are meant to trust the board… what a way to run a football club…

If he wants to go nobody can stop him that’s that if u don’t want to play for Carlisle just let him go that goes for every player
No wonder he wants to leave – been offered a 1 year contract I shouldn’t wonder. If ever there was a case for a 2 year deal, this is it and I bet he would jump at that. Whilst he was with us there was hope of a decent team around him, but if he goes we are sunk.
