Ipswich Town and Portsmouth are plotting a move for former Sunderland youngster Alejandro Rodriguez Gorrin.
The twenty-five-year-old midfielder began his career as a youth player on Wearside before stints in New Zealand and Spain secured him a move to Motherwell and a successful season in the Scottish Premiership in 2018/19.
The Spaniard is out of contract at Fir Park at the end of the month and looks set to leave Scotland with Portsmouth and Ipswich both chasing his signature according to a report by Football Insider.
The report also claims a source with knowledge of the all-action midfielder’s situation told them that several other English clubs have expressed an interest in signing Gorrin on a free transfer.
Football Insider reports the player is currently weighing up his options and is expected to make a decision on his future later this month.
Gorrin made twenty-five appearances in all competitions for Motherwell last season and especially impressed with his ability to break up play in midfield.
Ipswich and Portsmouth are looking to bolster their midfield options as they look to mount a serious challenge for automatic promotion to the Championship next season.
