Scunthorpe United have today finalised the price for Hakeeb Adelakun, who joined Bristol City in the summer.
The fee was due to be set be a tribunal, but the two clubs have now reached an amicable agreement, as announced by their official site.
The attacking midfielder played 169 times for the Iron, growing in confidence and ability until he caught the attention of Lee Johnson at Ashton Gate.
He’s since made just five appearances for the Robins, starting three matches and coming from the bench in two.
The news has perhaps prompted a new face coming in at Glanford Park, with the Iron swooping to secure the services of non-league star Jai Rowe. He had a trial with the Under 23 side last week and impressed, which will seal him a switch from non-league side Barwell.
It’s thought Leicester City have watched the right-sided player and he’ll now link up with Scunthorpe’s development squad for the remainder of the season.
Our View
We wonder if Adelakun has been a bit of a white elephant at Ashton Gate. He arrived at the same time as Mo Eisa, but hasn’t had an impact just like the former Cheltenham man.
With the fee agreed, the Iron have been recruiting. Jai Rowe isn’t a name you’ll hear in the next six months or so, but if he does develop his potential maybe he’ll be the next big thing to emerge from Glanford Park.
