Colchester United striker Luke Norris is in contention for a starting place this weekend as his side look to climb the League Two table.
The U’s are eighth in the table, level on points with Forest Green Rovers who occupy the final play off place. They were beaten 3-0 this weekend by an improving Swindon Town side, their third game without a win.
Following draws with Macclesfield and Carlisle, John McGreal’s side have slipped out of the top seven. That may bring about changes, including a recall for 25-year-old Norris.
‘He’s looking really good and powerful,” McGreal told the Gazette News. “Nos came on and looked sharp – I thought that was a big plus for us.
“He looked really good when he came on.
“He’s been a bit frustrated with his injuries and coming back. But I think the way we’ve worked it with him, he’s looking really good and looks powerful, too.
“That’s a good positive to come out of the (Swindon) game.”
Norris, a former Swindon player himself, as seven goals from 26 league appearances this season. He hasn’t scored since October and has been benched recently as McGreal prefers a partnership of Frank Nouble and Mikel Mandron.
Our View
Norris isn’t prolific, he never has been, but as part of a two-man front pairing he is much better.
Both Nouble and Mandron are big lads, they can be played up to aerially, or into feet. If Norris can get around them, maybe he’ll reap the rewards.
