Highly-rated Northampton Town defender Aaron Pierre has emerged as a target for a number of Championship clubs this summer.
According to HITC Sport, several Championship clubs are tracking the progress of the twenty-six-year-old central defender who is out of contract in the summer of 2020.
Pierre has been in fine form for the Cobblers this season, making thirty-five appearances and contributing six goals.
The Grenadian international is considered one of the best defenders in the lower leagues having also impressed during his spell at Wycombe Wanderers, where he made over one hundred and forty appearances before his move to Northampton Town in the summer of 2017.
The report suggests the Cobbers are bracing themselves for interest in Pierre once the summer transfer window opens.
The step up to championship level is a difficult one, but Pierre is a dominant player who is excellent on the ball.
It often looks easy for Pierre in League Two matches and he has been an outstanding performer for the Cobblers in what has been a disappointing campaign after their relegation last season.
The player’s performances this year means he deserves a chance at a higher level.
It might be a gamble worth taking for a club in the Championship if the price is right and Northampton decide to cash in during the summer.
