Swindon Town have been thwarted in their endeavour to bring Eijin Kishimoto to the County Ground.
The 23-year-old, from Nagoya in Japan, joined Sporting AZ FC in the US earlier this year, having been at Meiji University in Tokyo. Brown had him on trial and had said he was interested in signing him on a permanent deal.
That is now not going to happen. The trial had has now come to an end, as has the chances of a deal. Brown explained the intricacies.
“I am going to have to put cold water on the Kishimoto one, which is very unfortunate,” said Brown. “Without drowning you with stats, he has to have played 75 per cent of the national team games and he is nowhere near that. It was a punt, it was a long shot.”
The left back had been recommended to Brown by former team mate Warren Joyce, who is now managing out in America.
Tough blow to take, but surely there’s players in England without such ties who could do a job?
Scott Goldborne? Marcus Williams? James Connor?
