Port Vale have revealed that Cristian Montano is set to miss the game at Crewe this weekend with a knee injury .
The Valiants are currently waiting to discover for how long he will be on the side lines after he was forced out of their 2-1 defeat at home to Newport on September 1st.
The Colombian, who started his career at West Ham, has made six appearances for Neil Aspin’s side this season, but they’ll now be monitoring his situation closely.
Aspin says he doesn’t want to rush Montano back to action before the player is ready, explaining to local media: “I am not too worried because I think it is a medial ligament injury and we have all had them as players, so I know exactly what injury it is.”
“They can be very niggly in the fact that, if you catch the ball wrong, it opens up the joint and it can be a bit painful. So, I am well aware of what it is. They do need time to settle down, but like any injury, players need to feel comfortable before they are willing to play.”
It could be something, it could be nothing, but fans will be more worried than the manager seems to be.
Port Vale haven’t set the world on fire this season, they’re currently 16th and they’ll need all of their squad at their disposal if they’re going to kick on from here.
