Shrewsbury Town finally got their season up and running properly at the weekend, with a 2-0 victory against Southend.
It was new manager John Askey’s first win in League One this season and it propelled the two-time Wembley losers to 17th in the table.
Greg Docherty opened the scoring, before former Mansfield Town striker Lee Angol added another just before the break.
It was the Scot who won the plaudits though with an assured and capable outing.
After making over 100 appearances for Hamilton Academical, Docherty joined Rangers for an undisclosed fee. As a lifelong Rangers fan it was a dream come true, but he struggled to cement a place in their first team.
After just 14 senior appearances he joined Shrewsbury, where he’s now scored twice in League One.
He was awarded Man of the Match, announced on the club’s Twitter page, but it seems Rangers fans are keen on him returning to Ibrox once he’s got some regular football.
Here’s the best of their responses.
