League One side Shrewsbury Town have signed Ipswich defender Josh Emmanuel on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old right-back spent last season on loan at Rotherham United, where he appeared 38 times during the successful play-off assault by Paul Wanre’s side.
Emmanuel cam through the youth system at Ipswich and has made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Tractor Boys. He also enjoyed a loan spell with Crawley Town in 2016, although he only appeared twice for them.
He becomes the first player to travel to Shrewsbury from Ipswich since manager Paul Hurst left in the summer and his move indicates a calming of the relationship after Hurst nabbed Nolan and Nsiala in the summer.
We saw Emmanuel a couple of times last season and he’s got all the right attributes. He’s quick, strong and can get up and down the line well. He looked very good in a successful side.
Will he now need to prove himself in a struggling side? Shrewsbury have found life tough since Hurst left and they’ll hope their former manager has done them a favour loaning the youngster.
