Coventry City star makes Macclesfield Town switch

Macclesfield Town have signed forward Jordan Ponticelli on a season-long loan from Coventry City.

The 19-year old scored three goals in League Two for the Sky Blues last season, making 19 appearances as they were promoted via the play offs. 15 of those appearances came from the bench.

Since promotion he has featured in two games for Mark Robins’ side, but has played only two minutes in League One. He has 28 Coventry outings to his name in total, having emerged from their academy set up.

He could make his debut for the Silkmen when they host Crewe Alexandra on Saturday. Mark Yates side are currently second from bottom of League Two, but will be buoyed by reaching the League Cup third round for the first time in their history in midweek.

Our View

would it be fair to say this is an unremarkable signing for the Silkmen? No disrespect, but other sides are getting hot talent from the Championship, whilst they’re bagging a player who didn’t really cut it in League Two last season.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure though, so lets hope Mark Yates has a master plan which involves bringing the youngster on in leaps and bounds.
