Championship defender makes Newport County switch

Bristol City defender Cameron Pring has joined Newport County on loan until January.

The 20-year old Ashton Gate academy product spent much of last season with Hereford FC in the non-league scene, but is now ready to step up to the Football League.

“I’m very excited to be here,” said Pring, as reported by Newport’s website. “It’s a great club, all the feedback I’ve heard tells me the fans are great, all the boys are great and I’m really looking forward to getting started. Back at Bristol City, I’m a left-back and I know Mike Flynn likes to play with wing-backs so it’s perfect for me.”

The player is known as a left back and has previously had a brief spell out on loan at Guernsey FC

“The style of play here at Newport County AFC is everything that works for me. It’s a perfect move.”

Our View

Another young player hoping to make a name for himself in the lower reaches of the Football League.

It’s pretty standard, how successful it is depends on two things. Newport must treat the player right, give him game time and a chance to shine. On top of that, he’s got to show the right attitude and application to be a success.

Get those bits right and this will be a good move.
