Sorba Thomas joined Stoke in the summer from Huddersfield Town, fresh off the back of season-long loan with French top flight outfit Nantes. Whilst his time across the English Channel wasn’t a resounding success, it’s fair to say that he has started life at the bet365 Stadium with a bang.

The 26-year-old has been a mainstay in Mark Robins’ side and showed his class from the off, scoring 2 and assisting 3 in his opening 3 games. He’s shown no signs of slowing down since though, with his goal contributions for the campaign hitting 13 in 18 appearances.

The versatile attacker hot 2 goals and an assist in the recent 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic, although his stunner against Hull City at the weekend wasn’t enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat.

After an utterly dreadful start to the season under Ruben Selles, Sheffield United seem to have found their rhythm in recent weeks. The returning Chris Wilder has steadied the ship and they head into this game in the midst of a 4-game unbeaten run.

This was kickstarted by a 0-0 draw with Queens Park Rangers at Bramall Lane just before the international break, but the return to action a fortnight later saw them pick up the city bragging rights with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday. The Blades then beat Portsmouth by the same scoreline 3 days later.

Although they picked up another 3 points at the weekend, it was quite as clear sailing. The Yorkshire-based team raced into a 3-goal lead away at Leicester City, but the Foxes hit back in the second half with 2 goals of their own. However, United held firm, moving up to 19th as a result.

After years in the bottom half of the Championship, Mark Robins appears to be installing a bit of optimism back into the Stoke faithful. although recent form has dipped, they still remain fourth and just 3 points off the automatic promotion places.
