Our Three Predictions For Leicester City vs Stoke City

  • Prediction 1 – Divin Mubama To Score – 3/1
  • Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 21/20
  • Prediction 3 – Ipswich Town To Win – 5/2

First Prediction For Leicester City vs Stoke City – Divin Mubama To Score – 3/1

With Leicester not having a consistent number 9 at their disposal, it is more of a safe bet to pick a Stoke City forward to find the net. Mubama could certainly be that, being the Potters’ leading goalscorer with 5 in the Championship so far, a goal ahead of Lewis Baker and Million Manhoef.

Mubama is a top performer in the Championship, ranking highly in most attacking metrics, and is in the top 10% of all 2nd-tier strikers for non-penalty xG. 12 of his 26 shots taken have been on target, and comes back to Staffordshire having scored for the England Under-21 side on international duty.

Second Prediction For Leicester City vs Stoke City – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 21/20

Stoke have been an exciting team going forward, certainly helped by the performances of Sorba Thomas supporting players like Mubama and Manhoef. Mark Robins’ side have scored 9 goals in their last 5 matches, including 5 in an emphatic victory over Bristol City.

Leicester do have some players which can step up and perform but again have been largely inconsistent in front of goal. Their goals have largely come from midfield or out wide, with leading forward Patson Daka still yet to get off of the mark for the season.

Third Prediction For Leicester City vs Stoke City – Stoke City To Win – 5/2

Leicester have a lot to overcome if they are to win in this match. While only scoring 3 goals fewer than their visitors heading into this week, the difference in quality between these sides has been at the back. Stoke City lead the division for goals conceded with just 10, 4 of which came in their last 5 matches.

Their lack of a performing striker is a major concern if they are to overcome a well-regimented side like Stoke, and their defence is somewhat weakened without first-choice keeper Jakub Stolarczyk and Victor Kristiansen. While they may be able to get a goal in this one, the Potters should be able to win and continue their top 2 push.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Leicester City head back into league action in need of an uptick in results, with the Foxes languishing in midtable. Prior to the international break, Marti Cifuentes claimed a vital win against relegation candidates Norwich City to lift some of the pressure on his role, but still remains in a precarious position depending on the next few results.

In their last 5 games, their only victory came against the Canaries, with a further draw and 3 losses also on their record. That further point came against promotion contenders Middlesbrough, but increased their tally of draws to 6, the joint-most of any Championship club.

Stoke City were brought back down to earth in their last match before the international break, losing in a thrilling encounter with league leaders Coventry City, which knocked the Potters into 3rd place after Middlesbrough’s win over Birmingham City.

Stoke still maintain the best defensive record in the Championship with 10 goals conceded, 3 fewer than the next best teams in Boro and the Sky Blues. A big question will be whether Lewis Baker will be fit enough to play in this match, having sustained a knock in the loss to Coventry.

Leicester have been very successful in these fixtures, and hold a 10-game unbeaten run over the Potters, extending all the way back to 2015. The last 4 games have all been wins for the Foxes, with the last contest 2 seasons ago ended in a 5-0 demolition as Enzo Maresca’s side stormed towards the Premier League.
