Wolves have opened talks with Rob Edwards as they step up efforts to replace recently dismissed boss Vitor Pereira, with several high-profile names also under consideration.
The Midlands club are moving quickly to identify a successor after parting ways with Pereira last weekend, with the Premier League outfit determined to steady the ship before the November international break.
Sources close to the process suggest that Middlesbrough head coach Edwards has been approached, although no formal agreement is yet in place.

Edwards Leads the Early Race
Currently managing Middlesbrough in the Championship, Edwards has become 1 of the most admired young coaches in English football at the Riverside. His reputation grew following a successful promotion campaign with Luton Town and has only strengthened during a strong start to the season on Teesside.
Despite Wolves’ interest, Boro are said to remain confident of keeping their manager, who only joined the club in the summer.
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has already voiced public support for Edwards to stay put, warning that moving now could disrupt the progress Middlesbrough have made under his guidance.
However, Wolves see the 42-year-old as a natural fit for their long-term vision, combining tactical modernity with an understanding of the domestic market.

Ten Hag, Keane and Solskjaer Among Alternatives
While Edwards tops the shortlist, Wolves are also exploring alternative options should their pursuit prove unsuccessful. Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is among the candidates, having been out of work since a brief spell with Bayer Leverkusen earlier this year. His experience in English football and attacking philosophy are seen as appealing qualities despite his recent struggles.

Elsewhere, ex-Ireland international Robbie Keane and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have both been mentioned in connection with the Molineux vacancy. Keane, currently gaining managerial experience abroad, has been praised for his energy and man-management skills, while Solskjaer’s calm leadership and Premier League knowledge make him a steady, if unlikely, choice.
Wolves’ board, led by owner Guangchang, are expected to make a final decision before the end of the month. For now, interim arrangements remain in place as the club seeks stability following a turbulent start to the campaign.
The situation remains fluid, but with Edwards’ stock high and Wolves’ intent on an ambitious appointment, the next move from both sides could shape the managerial landscape across the top two tiers of English football.
