TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has warned Middlesbrough head coach Rob Edwards to avoid the temptation of a move to Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves are on the search for a new man in the dugout after parting company with Vitor Pereira at the weekend. A 3-0 defeat at Fulham left the West Midlands-based side rooted to the foot of the table with just 2 points from their opening 10 games.
With an 8 point gap having already been opened up by 17th-placed Burnley, it was clear that a change was needed. Almost immediately after the announcement, Edwards was installed as one of the frontrunners. This has gathered pace over the last 24 hours when it was revealed that Gary O’Neil had pulled out of the running.

We would like to thank Vitor and his staff for their tireless work during their time at Molineux.

Edwards Addresses Links
Edwards arrived at the Riverside Stadium in the summer having been out of work since leaving Luton Town in January. He has performed a wonderful job since replacing Michael Carrick and currently has his new club sat second in the Championship, 3 points behind leaders Coventry City.
The 42-year-old made over 100 appearances for Wolves as a player between 2004 and 2008, which makes this an easy link to make. This was echoed by the man himself, who addressed the rumours ahead of his side’s clash with Leicester City tonight:
“I can understand it with my links to the club but my full focus is on this job here, which is a brilliant job, and trying to turn things around for a really big game against Leicester.
“It’s hard for me to comment on speculation and anything other than Middlesbrough.”
Jordan Fires Warning
Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan once signed Edwards for the Eagles during the early stages of his career. The former defender made 7 appearances for the club in 2003, scoring once.
Speaking on talkSPORT earlier today, the now-pundit warned his former player about leaving his current employers:
“He has no business doing anything other than the job he has got at Middlesbrough. He has been given an opportunity by Steve Gibson who is a good football club owner.
“He was brought in after the end of his time at Luton where his reputation was damaged a little bit, because their decline was, to some extent, under his watch.

“It won’t serve him well if he jumps out of the Boro job after five minutes. We’ve seen this before, where people think the grass is greener somewhere else and the opportunity that exists for them, but it isn’t.
“He’s at a good football club, Middlesbrough are in good nick, Gibson will be thinking they can get promoted this season, so he will probably get backed in January. So, pack it in, distance yourself from the Wolves job and get on with the opportunity you’ve been given.”
Other names linked with the role at Molineux include Michael Carrick, Erik ten Hag and former Wolves striker Robbie Keane.
