  • 3rd prediction: Both teams to score

1st prediction for Leicester City vs Middlesbrough: Middlesbrough to win or draw – 4/6

This is a huge game in the Championship for two teams many expected to be near the top of the table.

Leicester have started the season poorly and lie 14th when many expected them to have a strong chance of instant promotion back to the top-flight. That hasn’t been the reality with poor recent form dragging them down the table and raising serious questions about Marti Cifuentes’ future.. They look promising at times, but they are liable to put in the odd poor performance such as their loss to Blackburn this weekend. In this game they have the home advantage, but it may be another case of missed chances..

Middlesbrough have been fantastic this season and are favourites despite being the away side.. Many expected them to do well this season, but they have defied expectations and sit 2nd. Their attacking talent has been fantastic and Rob Edwards has them set up very well, and a win here would rather further their promotion ambitions.

2nd prediction for Leicester City vs Middlesbrough: Over 2.5 goals in the game – 10/11

This is likely to be an incredibly entertaining game, with both sides committing to playing an exciting brand of football.

Both sides have plenty of attacking quality at their disposal, though Leicester haven’t shown that to their full ability yet this season. Middlesbrough also seem like they have another gear to reach going forward, which is an exciting prospect.

For Leicester, they will want to keep as much of the ball as possible to restrict their opponents. The key for them is taking chances and being watertight when they conceded opportunities, which has let them down. This is likely to be the basis of their strategy as they look to offer Ipswich only chances on the break, limiting their attacking opportunities. Both sides will have plenty of chances in what promises to be a great game, so expect goals.

3rd prediction for Leicester City vs Middlesbrough: Both teams to score – 3/4

This is a prediction which leads on from the previous one. Both sides are in mixed form with high ambitions, though both have shown they are vulnerable conceding to teams they should be comfortably beating. This being a midweek fixture will add to this, with fixture lists really piling up at the moment and more frenetic games taking place.

With both sides looking to reach the play-offs or better this season, a win here is crucial for both sides, especially Leicester as they look to recover, so neither side will play for a draw.

Leicester will hope for an early goal and to hold out for the rest of the game, and will use the crowd to their advantage. The away side know they will have a tough game on their hands but they have form on their side, so they will have the confidence that they will score.

Full preview of the game: last results and head to head

This is a massive game at this stage of the season. Both sides have high ambitions and will use this game as a chance to get one over a team of a similar level, though the table does not show that. That applies particularly for Leicester, who need to get back on track for their promotion ambitions. A Middlesbrough win would be huge as they look to stay near the top of the table and defy many expectations, though being the away side makes this a challenge. All things considered, this is a fascinating match up.
