Norwich City Fans Hilarious Response To Jovon Makama Goal

Norwich City fans have taken to social media to aim digs at head coach Liam Manning following Jovon Makama’s equaliser against Swansea City this afternoon.

The 40-year-old has endured a nightmare since switching Bristol City for Carrow Road in the summer. He arrived under high expectations after he guided the Robins into the Championship play-offs last season, where he lost at the semi-final stage to Sheffield United.

Two wins and 2 defeats in his opening 4 games is as good as its got for the former Oxford United boss. At the time of writing, Norwich have not tasted victory since beating Blackburn Rovers at the end of August and have lost 5 of their last 7 league outings.

Manning Under Pressure

Manning took his side to South Wales this afternoon hoping to ease the mounting pressure on his job. Fans have made their thoughts clear in recent weeks, especially after losing to rivals Ipswich Town for the first time in 16 years earlier this month.

The Swans took the lead in just the sixth minute through Zan Vipotnik and looked to be heading into half time with a goal lead. However, Canaries attacker Jovon Makama levelled matters 3 minutes before the break to restore parity.

The 21-year-old joined the East Anglians in August for a 7 figure fee from League One outfit Lincoln City. He has had to be patient and only started his first league game in last week’s defeat at Derby County.

Despite that, the winger has shown during his time on the pitch why Norwich paid out the sum they did, leading to supporters to question his lack of game time. A season-ending injury for Ante Crnac does seem to have opened up an opportunity though.

Norwich Fans Mock Manning After Makama Equaliser

Norwich fans were critical on Tuesday night when Makama was withdrawn after an hour against Derby. This prompted hilarious responses on ‘X’ when the ex-Imp bagged his second goal in yellow.

Writer’s View

Norwich fans have been perplexed as to why Jovon Makama hasn’t been given more opportunities. He has been largely excellent when he has been utilised, which is why supporters have adhered to him during the early stages of his career at Carrow Road.

It’s likely that Liam Manning was hoping to ease him into the squad. The winger had only played League One football prior to his big money transfer and is still a very young player. However, there comes a time when it is impossible to hear the calls from the stands and the head coach eventually relented in midweek. Crnac’s injury also makes it highly likely that Makama is set to become a regular fixture in the starting XI.
