Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Stoke City have made an excellent start to the campaign and find themselves in second place in the Championship after the early rounds of matches. Mark Robins’ side have wobbled slightly over recent weeks, suffering three defeats in their last four in all competitions.

The Potters opened the season with three straight Championship victories to send them top. The opening day win over Derby County came in dramatic style thanks to two goals in injury time at the end of the match. Carlton Morris gave Derby the lead before Lewis Baker equalised in the 70th minute. Divin Mubama then struck in the 95th minute before a 99th minute Sorba Thomas goal sealed the three points.

Crisis club Sheffield Wednesday were then beaten 3-0 at Hillsborough thanks to goals from Manhoef and Mubama before goals from Lewis Baker and Thomas secured an impressive win away at Southampton despite playing the final half an hour with ten men due to Mubama’s red card.

Stoke’s first league defeat of the season came at the end of August on home soil against West Bromwich Albion thanks to a Nat Phillips goal. They were back to winning ways after the international break against Birmingham City when a Bosun Lawal goal was enough for maximum points. Last time out, Queen Park Rangers inflicted a second defeat on the Potters thanks to a solitary Harvey Vale strike.

Robins’ side have scored nine goals so far this season with four players, including Sorba Thomas and Lewis Baker, scoring two apiece while Thomas leads the way in assists with three. Stoke have scored 1.5 goals per match and only conceded an average of 0.7, giving them the joint best defence in the league alongside leaders Middlesbrough.

Norwich City are yet to hit their stride under Liam Manning and find themselves 15th in the early stages of the Championship table with two wins, three defeats and seven points from their opening six games.

The Canaries have won two, lost two and drawn one of their last five outings in the Championship, with a 2-1 at Portsmouth starting that sequence. Harry Darling and Josh Sargent both struck early to secure maximum points at Fratton Park. Sargent was again on target in the following match but his goal was nothing more than a consolation at league leaders Middlesbrough left Carrow Road with all three points after a 2-1 victory.

Norwich’s impressive away form continued in their next outing as they went away to Blackburn Rovers and again claimed the points and it was again thanks to Josh Sargent who helped himself to a brace, including one from the penalty spot. Manning’s men were on course for a third straight away win at Coventry City until Haji Wright scored a 96th minute equaliser to cancel out Mathias Kvistgaarden’s early goal.

Last time out, Wrexham were the victors at Carrow Road despite goals from Jack Stacey and Jovon Makama.

Norwich City have scored nine and conceded nine so far this season, both at averages of 1.5 per game, with Josh Sargent their top scorer on five and the defence keeping just one clean sheet.

Norwich City hold the upper hand in the most recent head-to-head statistics, claiming eight wins in the previous 18 meetings, only suffering defeat on four occasions.

Last season was a disappointing campaign for both of these teams, with Stoke in a relegation scrap right to the wire. The first meeting between the pair at the bet365 Stadium ended 1-1, with both goals coming in first half injury time. Ante Crnac found the top corner to give the visiting Canaries a lead before Million Manhoef repeated the feat for Stoke six minutes later.

In the Carrow Road return fixture, it was a Josh Sargent inspired Norwich City who ran out 4-2 winners. The United States international struck twice, sandwiched between a Lewis Dobbin strike and a Junior Tchamadeu own goal. Lewis Baker scored twice for for the Potters, his second a 90th minute consolation from the penalty spot.

Norwich City completed the double over Stoke in the 2023-24 campaign, one that saw the Norfolk side achieve a playoff berth and Stoke again struggle towards the bottom end of the Championship. Jack Stacey scored the winner at Carrow Road before a comprehensive 3-0 win on the road in Staffordshire thanks to goals from Sargent, Gabriel Sara and Ashley Barnes.

Stoke have failed to beat Norwich in the last nine encounters, with their most recent victory coming thanks to a Timm Klose own goal at Carrow Road back in 2018. There have been 42 goals scored in the last 18 meetings at an average of 2.3 per game nad Norwich City have scored 27 of those. Stoke have kept four clean sheets and Norwich have managed to shut their opponents out on five occasions.
