Barnsley forward Davis Keillor-Dunn has highlighted the positive atmosphere within the club, attributing much of this to the influence of manager Conor Hourihane, as reported by the Yorkshire Post.
The former Mansfield Town man has scored five goals in his eight League One matches so far.
Positive Start For The Tykes
When Conor Hourihane took over at Oakwell in March, the club was struggling to push for promotion and ended the season disappointed. Under his leadership, Barnsley has rebounded with five wins from their opening eight games, finding themselves in the early playoff mix.
Keillor-Dunn has spoken of the work that Hourihane puts in as manager of the club and his excitement for the season ahead.
“I have got to give credit to Conor in how details and obsessed he is. It just shows with the boys really buying into it and pulling in the right direction.”“He is really trying to help the boys progress in their careers and there’s a great feeling about the club at the minute and I am really excited to see what the season brings.”

Manager Driving The Levels
Hourihane’s playing career saw him represent clubs like Aston Villa and Sheffield United as well as Barnsley and his forward believes that has driven his manager’s approach.
“We have a manager who has played at the highest level of the game and his standards are incredible. His dedication is second to none and I am really enjoying playing under him and he’s a great person as well.”“It’s been a great start to the season for myself and the club and I just want to keep going (with these) things.”
Keillor-Dunn joined Barnsley from Mansfield in 2024 and scored 18 League One goals in his first season and has started the current campaign in excellent form with five goals.
“I have enjoyed playing for the club ever since I have been here and I have always played with a smile on my face and have been backed by the fans every single week and I have no complaints.”
Writer’s View
Keillor-Dunn has started the season in excellent form, and Barnsley find themselves firmly in the playoff mix. The start was crucial for Hourihane after a mixed bag of results during the first months of his tenure, with a poor start to this new campaign having the potential to raise questions over his position.
