Hull City are weighing up a move for Algeria international Yasser Larouci as the defender prepares to leave Troyes next summer.
The 24-year-old, currently on loan in Greece, is expected to be available on a pre-contract agreement in January and is keen on a return to English football.
Tigers Monitoring Situation
According to reports, Hull are among the clubs exploring a move for Larouci, who first made his name as a Liverpool prospect. Middlesbrough and Bristol City have also been credited with interest, but the Tigers are believed to be strong contenders given their Championship ambitions and need for defensive reinforcements.
Larouci has spent the past four years on the books at French side Troyes, though he has had two loan stints in England. He featured 13 times in the Premier League for Sheffield United during their 2023/24 relegation campaign before playing 42 games for Watford the following season, contributing three assists from left-back.
This summer, he was sent on loan to Kifisia in Greece to gain further minutes, but with his contract in France set to expire, a return to the UK appears likely.

Liverpool Roots And Championship Appeal
The left-back was tipped for a big future after emerging from Liverpool’s academy and making his senior debut in a Merseyside derby FA Cup tie against Everton in January 2020. Although he did not establish himself at Anfield, his attacking instincts and ability to operate as a wing-back have made him a valuable option for clubs in England’s second tier.
Hull’s interest reflects their desire to strengthen in wide defensive areas, with Larouci’s pace and willingness to push forward aligning well with the style adopted under their current management. The opportunity to secure him on a free next summer, or through a pre-contract agreement in January, could prove a shrewd piece of business if competition from rivals intensifies.
Writer’s View
For Hull, Larouci represents the type of player who could add balance and depth on the left side of defence. His experience in both the Premier League and Championship means he would arrive ready to slot straight in, while at 24 he still has plenty of time to develop further.
With Middlesbrough and Bristol City also circling, the Tigers will need to act decisively if they want to win the race. Given the likelihood of a free transfer, this could be one of the more cost-effective moves of the upcoming window.
