Our Three Predictions For Crystal Palace vs Millwall:

  • First Prediction For Crystal Palace vs Millwall: Match Result – Crystal Palace – 17/50
  • Second Prediction For Crystal Palace vs Millwall: Over 2.5 Goals – 29/50
  • Third Prediction For Crystal Palace vs Millwall: A Red Card In The Match – Yes – 15/4

First Prediction For Crystal Palace vs Millwall: Match Result – Crystal Palace – 17/50

With European commitments this season, Crystal Palace may see their league form take a slight hit, though they remain unbeaten across all competitions thus far. But the League Cup may take a back burner, having won the FA Cup last season and with six Conference League fixtures to contend with before the new year. Millwall have had a steady, if not spectacular, start to the campaign, winning and losing two of their opening five games. The Eages are unbeaten in the last six games between the two sides, and expect them to extend that record to seven on Tuesday evening.

Second Prediction For Crystal Palace vs Millwall: Over 2.5 Goals – 29/50

Each of the last four cup matches between the two teams, stretching back to 1985, have seen more than three goals, including the incident-packed meeting in March. Before the last two cup games, three of the previous four meetings had seen a maximum of one goal scored, when this game used to be a regular Championship fixture. Palace have yet to deliver infront of goal with three goalless draws from six competitive fixtures, and only three sides have netted fewer goals than Millwall, but expect the home side to rediscover their scoring touch under the lights.

Third Prediction For Crystal Palace vs Millwall: A Red Card In The Match – Yes – 15/4

In the past four games between the two teams, there have been two red cards. Liam Roberts saw red only eight minutes into the last encounter for a reckless high tackle on Jean-Philippe Mateta. And back in 2012, during a feisty encounter where eleven players were cautioned, Dean Moxey was dismissed after handling the ball on the line to start the Lions’ fightback. Another sending off in midweek wouldn’t be a huge surprise between these bitter foes.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Fresh from their FA Cup success at the end of last season, Crystal Palace have begun the campaign with a steady start in the top flight. Unbeaten in fifteen games across all competitions since a five-nil thrashing against Newcastle United in April, the Eagles have shrugged off the losses of Eberechi Eze to continue to defy expectations. Holding Chelsea to a goalless draw on the opening weekend, Eze was denied the perfect send-off at Stamford Bridge as his free-kick was controversially disallowed. Inbetween their Play-Off with Norwegian side Fredrikstad, a fiery encounter with Nottingham Forest ended level. Forest were promoted to the Europa League at Palace’s expense, after they had breached multi-ownership rules. Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the goal that saw them progress to the Group Stages of the Conference League, before the South London side continued to be Aston Villa’s bogey side with a dominant performance in the West Midlands.

Mateta’s penalty set them on their way at Villa Park, with Ismaila Sarr wrapping up the points. But captain Marc Guéhi stole the headlines with a stunning strike midway through the second period, in what was believed to be his final game for Palace. However, his proposed move to Liverpool fell through as a replacement for the centre-half couldn’t be secured, meaning he will remain with the club until at least January. After the international break, Palace drew for the third time in four Premier League games yesterday against newly-promoted Sunderland. This is the first of two London derbies this week, as the Eagles travel to Stratford as firm favourites to beat out-of sorts West Ham United. A repeat of the Community Shield Final against Liverpool is next up at Selhurst Park in their final September outing, with the Reds winning all four Premier League games to date. Oliver Glasner begins their Conference League Group Stage campaign at the start of next month with a trip to Poland to play Dynamo Kyiv, before hosting AEK Larnaca.

Millwall come into the latest instalment of this London derby fresh from their own capital battle on Saturday. In the first league meeting at The Valley with spectators since 2017, the Lions maintained their 29-year unbeaten record, extending their run without defeat to thirteen games with a late point. After Sonny Carey smashed home in the opening period, Kayne Ramsay picked up a needless second yellow card with a quarter of an hour remaining, changing the complexity of the remainder of the game. And sure enough, after Ra’ees Bangura-Williams was denied an equaliser, he levelled the scores with two minutes remaining to seal a vital point. That was the response needed after losing to Wrexham before the international break, their second league defeat of the campaign. On the opening weekend of the season, the Lions began with a solid away win at Norwich City, courtesy of goals from Camiel Neghli and Macaulay Langstaff to end their Carrow Road hoodoo.

Ryan Leonard grabbed the only goal at Newport County to secure progression in the Carabao Cup in an uneasy cup tie against giant-killers, before early leaders Middlesbrough put three past Alex Neil’s in a disappointing first home game of the season. But against Sheffield United, who earlier today sacked manager Rubén Sellés after a nightmare start to the campaign, they edged a tight encounter thanks to Luke Cundle’s goal and a strong rearguard from Steven Benda. Consecutive victories arrived to set up this meeting against Crystal Palace, beating league rivals Coventry City in the cup, before that defeat to the Red Dragons. Millwall have an extended break before returning to Championship action, playing the final game of the next gameweek a week on Monday against Watford. The Lions then travel to Swansea City for the early kick-off in two weeks’ time, with consecutive home games against sides from the West Midlands, Coventry City and West Bromwich Albion, before the next international break. Top-flight football has alluded this part of South London since 1990, but the hope is that after years of consolidation in the Championship, Millwall can finally push on to reach the second-tier Play-Offs.
