Leicester City look set to make a move for Burnley’s Aaron Ramsey as they look for a new midfield option.
The Foxes are in need of new players following their relegation from the Premier League, and have lost key defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi this summer. While Oliver Skipp and Boubakary Soumare have been a solid partnership for Marti Cifuentes in the opening stages of the season, more depth could be needed with just three central midfielders at the club and Bilal El Khannouss’ future is still in the air heading into deadline day.
Ramsey Move On The Cards, Other Target Named
According to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Leicester have turned to Aaron Ramsey to solve their depth issues as he looks for first-team minutes following a lengthy injury layoff. He made his first start since early 2024 in Burnley’s EFL Cup fixture against Derby County, putting in a brilliant performance and scoring the opening goal in the 2-1 win at Turf Moor.
McGrath’s report has since been followed up by the Burnley Express, who have stated that City will secure Ramsey on a season-long loan as Scott Parker’s side close in on a move for Benfica’s Florentino Luis. A move to the East Midlands will be the first regular game time Ramsey will pick up since suffering a major knee injury in a game against Arsenal, which left him sidelined for 13 months.
He joins as the probable replacement for Bilal El Khannouss, who has been allowed to leave to complete a medical at Stuttgart on a loan-to-buy deal. The Moroccan international was previously linked with both Crystal Palace and Leeds United in the Premier League.
However, Ramsey is not the only midfielder tipped with a move to Leicester, with McGrath’s report also naming Jordan James, who is currently at French Ligue 1 side Rennes. The Wales international joined from Birmingham City last summer and has played 25 times for the club, with only 13 starts to his name in the league.

Aaron Ramsey will be a choice to have this season as they look for alternatives for Bilal El Khannouss, who is set to head to Stuttgart today. His injury layoff may mean he will need time to get up to speed at the King Power, which could hand more game time to promising 17-year-old Louis Page. Marti Cifuentes should be pleased to get a deal for Ramsey over the line as they look to regain their Premier League status.
