Leicester City have finally made their first outfield signing of the summer with the arrival of Julian Carranza.
The Foxes have only added one player to their squad so far in backup goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as a free transfer following his release from Everton. However, with multiple signings tipped to happen between now and the end of the window, the Foxes have made their first announcement of the day with Carranza’s arrival.
Vardy Replacement Secured
Signing a new forward has been a key priority for Marti Cifuentes this summer after the departure of Jamie Vardy, with Jordan Ayew forced into playing up front for the Foxes for their opening stint of the season. Patson Daka’s future remains up in the air after his transfer to Spanish side Real Betis collapsed earlier in the day, according to the Telegraph’s John Percy.
However, their striker dilemma has been solved with the confirmation of the signing of Julian Carranza from Feyenoord on a season-long loan. The Argentinian arrived in the Netherlands last summer on a free transfer, but failed to make an impression with five goals in 30 appearances.
The 25-year-old had much more success in Major League Soccer, being a key star for Philadelphia Union across two seasons with 36 goals in 78 matches. He has previously played for Inter Miami, who he joined from Argentine club Banfield.
Speaking to the club about his move to the King Power, Carranza said:

Writers’ View
It was vital for Leicester City to find a new forward this window and they have done so with the loan signing of Julian Carranza. Whilst he struggled in Eredivisie with Feyenoord, he has shown form before in the United States and it will be that version of the forward that Foxes fans will want to see. With Patson Daka’s deal to Real Betis collapsing and no alternative emerging as of yet, it seems likely that Marti Cifuentes will have two natural strikers on top of the makeshift Ayew to choose from this season. With signings like Aaron Ramsey also expected to join, Leicester have had a strong final flourish to a quiet window.
