Pointless Cheltenham Town travel to Salford City on Friday night in search of something to ignite their League Two season and end a run of six league matches without a win stretching back to the end of last season.
Our 3 Predictions For Salford City v Cheltenham Town:
- 1st Prediction For Salford City v Cheltenham Town: Match Result Salford City – 4/6
- 2nd Prediction For Salford City v Cheltenham Town: Under 2.5 Goals – 17/20
- 3rd Prediction For Salford City v Cheltenham Town: Both Teams To Score No 19/20
1st Prediction For Salford City v Cheltenham Town: Match Result Salford City – 4/6
With the disastrous way Cheltenham have started their season, it is hard to look beyond Salford in this one. The Ammies have made a positive start to the campaign with three wins in five and have won two of the last three meetings between the sides.
2nd Prediction For Salford City v Cheltenham Town: Under 2.5 Goals – 17/20
Salford have only scored six in their opening five matches with their leading scorer being the defender Oluwo. Their opponents may have conceded a lot of goals but the bulk of those came in one fixture and they have only scored once themselves. Current form in front of goal for these sides points to a low scoring affair.
3rd Prediction For Salford City v Cheltenham Town: Both Teams To Score No – 19/20
Cheltenham have only scored once this season and managed just one shot on target in their last league match, the defeat to Barnet after managing just nine shots on target in the previous three league outings.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
After a 3-1 home defeat to Crewe Alexandra on the opening day, Salford found some form and won three league games in a row, beginning with an impressive 2-1 win at Notts County. Adebola Oluwo gave the Ammies the lead in the 35th minute before Kelly N’Mai got the all important second goal just before the hour mark.
Penalty shootout defeat to Rotherham United followed but they were back to winning ways four days later, securing a first home win of the season thanks to a a 2-1 scoreline over Accrington Stanley. Ben Woodburn and Luke Garbutt were the men with the goals for Karl Robinson’s side.
Adebola Oluwo was again on the scoresheet just three days after the Accrington win as his 51st minute strike was enough to claim all three points at Newport County. Last time out, a Harrison Burke strike for Walsall was enough to send the Ammies to their first defeat since Crewe and give them a record of three wins and two defeats from their opening five League Two matches.
Oluwo has had an excellent start to the campaign and his superb ratings are supported by the two goals he has already scored. Ben Woodburn and Kadeem Harris have both provided a goal and an assist for their team so far.
Cheltenham Town have endured a torrid start to their League Two season, losing all five of their opening matches and scoring just once but conceding 11 times. The club’s one taste of success this season came in the shape of a 2-0 EFL Cup first round victory against Exeter City, setting up a second round encounter with League One high flyers Cardiff City.
Unfortunately for the Robins, their Carabao Cup journey came to end in the Welsh capital as they were beaten 3-0 by their League One opponents.
The league campaign began with a 1-0 defeat away at Cambridge United and followed a week later by a 2-0 home reverse against Chesterfield. Things went from bad to worse in the next league match as MK Dons hammered five past the Robins at Stadium MK. Josh Martin’s name was the first of a Cheltenham player to appear on the scoresheet when he netted against Bromley. Unfortunately for Michael Flynn’s side, that proved to be in vain and they lost again, this time by two goals to one.
Last Saturday, the EV Charger Points Stadium welcomed Barnet and it was the Bees who went away buzzing with a 1-0 victory having played the last ten minutes of the match with ten men.
These two sides have played each other seven times since 2019 and it is Cheltenham who hold the upper hand with four victories to Salford’s one. Last season they met three times with an FA Cup second round tie thrown in with the league fixtures. Salford were the victors in the opening league match between the two at the Peninsula Stadium in September, as a double from Hakeeb Adelakun, including an 86th minute winner, gave the hosts a come from behind victory.
The Peninsula also played host to the FA Cup fixture six weeks later in a game that again saw Salford come out on top. Two goals in two minutes from Francis Okoronkwo and Cole Stockton secured the Ammies passage to round three. Cheltenham did get an element of revenge when they welcomed Salford to the EV Charger Points Stadium in January, claiming a 2-1 win that eventually cost their visitors a playoff spot thanks to goals from Tommy Blackwell and Jordan Thomas.
In the seven fixtures, Salford have scored six times and Cheltenham have found the net on ten occasions.
