Barrow have bolstered their attacking options with the loan signing of experienced forward Rhys Healey.
The 30-year-old, who moved between Watford and Huddersfield for £2 million accordoing to Transfermarket, joins until January as Andy Whing looks to strengthen his squad for the early months of the League Two season.
Healey Arrives to Aid Bluebirds’ Push
Healey was named among the substitutes for Barrow’s 2-1 victory over Notts County last weekend, though he did not feature. His arrival comes as the club look to maintain their strong start to the campaign, with Wild keen to add proven quality to his forward line.
The striker has made 22 appearances for Huddersfield since joining from Watford in early 2024, but opportunities have been limited at the John Smith’s Stadium. A short-term move to Holker Street now gives Healey the platform to rediscover his sharpness in front of goal.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he revealed how quickly the move was finalised.
“It literally happened in the space of three or four hours last night. I was just sitting there with my family, and the next minute I was ready to make my way up here.
“The quicker it gets done, the better for me so I can get straight into it. You can definitely expect 100 per cent, I’ll give everything when I’ve got the shirt on. I’ll score goals given the opportunities, and I’ll give everything I can.”

Barrow Building Ambition
Wild’s side have steadily developed into one of the most consistent outfits in League Two, regularly competing in the upper half of the table. The addition of Healey, who has played in France with Toulouse as well as the EFL with Cardiff, Watford and MK Dons, underlines the club’s growing ambition.
With fixtures coming thick and fast, his experience could be decisive in maintaining momentum. The forward is also expected to compete immediately for a starting place, with the squad stretched by the demands of the early season schedule.
Barrow supporters may also be eager to see him feature in upcoming clashes, including a trip to Colchester United where Healey once enjoyed a successful loan spell. His track record of making an instant impact could prove valuable as the Bluebirds look to build on a promising opening month.
Writer’s View
For Barrow, this is a signing that demonstrates intent. Healey’s pedigree at higher levels of the game brings both experience and credibility, and his ability to score goals has been proven across several clubs. The short-term nature of the deal ensures limited risk, while offering the chance to inject extra firepower at a crucial stage of the season.
If he adapts quickly, Healey could provide the spark that helps Barrow sustain another challenge near the top end of League Two.
