Swansea City winger Ronald Pereira has opened up on his positive start to the season after scoring the decisive goal in the Swans’ win over Sheffield United.
The Brazilian was the only name on the scoresheet in South Wales on the weekend, inflicting further pain on Ruben Selles’ side and recording the first points for the Jacks this season under new permanent boss Alan Sheehan. The 24-year-old broke the deadlock halfway through the second period, drilling home the ball past Michael Cooper in the Blades’ goal on a day he could have easily had a brace with a wasted effort in the first half.
Pereira Discusses Successes
With just three competitive games under their belts this season, Ronald Pereira has established himself as the form man in the early phase of the campaign, also scoring in their previous match against Crawley Town to see the Championship side through to the second round of the EFL Cup. Speaking to the club about his opening performances this season, he said:
“I’m very happy to have scored two goals in a week,”
“I hope I can help contribute towards more victories for Swansea, the important of this one was great because we knew how important it was to start to try and build momentum.
“We want to continue to be on the front foot and I am happy to have started the season well.
“Alan is a coach who always talks to me and supports me, he gives me advice on the positions I need to get into and I am happy to be scoring goals to help the team.
“To celebrate with the fans at the end was great, I know they have a lot of affection for me, every game they shout my name and I am really glad to give them a moment to make them happy, and I hope there are more to come.”

Writers’ View
Ronald Pereira has delivered for the club in their second league game and got them off of the mark in a campaign that promises to be much more successful than the last. The Brazilian will surely be a regular in the side as the club’s only true right winger as it stands, and this great start individually will no doubt help his confidence in upcoming games.
