Plymouth Argyle are pushing to sign Fleetwood Town forward Ryan Graydon as competition intensifies across League One.
The 26-year-old is attracting interest from multiple third-tier clubs, but the Pilgrims remain in the hunt for attacking reinforcements after missing out on Dale Taylor.
Plymouth target Graydon as attacking search continues
Plymouth Argyle are among a host of clubs chasing the signature of Ryan Graydon, with the Fleetwood Town striker entering the final year of his contract and likely to be sold before the window closes. The Irish forward is also being monitored by Wigan Athletic, Rotherham United, Lincoln City and Aberdeen, according to Football Insider.
Graydon was a standout performer in League Two last season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists across 33 starts. Despite Fleetwood’s relegation from League One the year before, he has remained one of the club’s key assets and is now poised for a return to the third tier.
The Pilgrims are still actively searching for a new striker following the collapse of a loan move for Nottingham Forest’s Dale Taylor, who instead joined Blackpool. Manager Tom Cleverly remains determined to bolster the squad’s attacking options before the end of August, with Graydon emerging as a strong candidate.
“Fleetwood are expecting offers for Graydon before the end of the window, with a number of interested clubs circling,” report sources close to the situation.
Graydon only joined Fleetwood from League of Ireland side Derry City in 2023 and has quickly adapted to English football. His ability to operate across the forward line, as well as his work rate and technical ability, have made him an appealing target for clubs aiming to challenge higher up the table.
Plymouth’s interest comes at a pivotal moment. Having narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship last season, Argyle are looking to mount a push for immediate promotion back to the second tier. With top scorer Ryan Hardie attracting outside interest, attacking depth is a clear priority.
Aberdeen are also in the frame, with the Scottish Premiership side eager to strengthen following a difficult start to their domestic campaign. However, Graydon’s preference is understood to be a move within the EFL, giving Plymouth and other English suitors an edge.
