First Prediction For Wrexham vs Hull City: Match Result – Wrexham – 27/20
Wrexham will be keen to respond to their heartbreaking opening-day defeat. Josh Windass netted from the spot for the newly-promoted outfit midway through the opening period, but Ryan Manning struck a wonderful free-kick for Southampton as the clock struck 90. And in the sixth minute of stoppage time, Jack Stephens scrappily gave the Saints a huge victory in the early kick-off. Simultaneously, Hull City held Coventry City to a goalless draw at the CBS Arena, a result which was welcomed by Tigers supporters, given the contrasting expectations for both sides this summer. But, with Wrexham so strong on home soil, they will be expected to get the job done on Tuesday evening and progress to the second round of the League Cup.
Second Prediction For Wrexham vs Hull City: Under 2.5 Goals – 3/4
The Racecourse has developed quite a reputation in recent years for being an extremely difficult place for opposing teams to visit. With the second-best home record in the third tier last term, the Red Dragons also had a top-three attack. Only Birmingham City shipped fewer goals on their own patch, while only four sides in the Championship conceded fewer times away from home than Hull last year. The Tigers were surprisingly strong on the road, though they struggled for goals, meaning that this cup tie will likely be a tight affair with limited attacking output.
Third Prediction For Wrexham vs Hull City: Both Teams To Score – No – 1/1
In the past seven meetings between the two sides, both teams have got on the scoresheet in all but one of those encounters. That included a thrilling League Cup tie in 2001, with the Tigers winning by the odd goal in five. But the last fixture between the two clubs was 20 years ago, so that is unlikely to be an omen for this midweek encounter. With Wrexham always likely to find the net at home, and the Tigers struggling to score on the road last term, expect only the hosts to be on the scoresheet on Tuesday.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
This may finally be the year that stagnation is expected for Wrexham. Three successive promotions, the first time that feat has been achieved in English professional football, sees the Red Dragons in the second tier for the first time in 43 years. Their rise to this level has been unprecedented, though the first two promotions were perhaps expected, given the financial backing relative to their rivals. Additionally, once a side have escaped from the National League, they typically go on to do very well in the fourth tier. But last term, many experts tipped Phil Parkinson’s side for a mid-table finish, potentially pushing the Play-Offs at best. Nevertheless, Wrexham kept plugging their way through games and frequently found ways to win, a trait so important in a promotion-winning campaign. That eventually secured another rise to a higher division by comfortably defeating Charlton Athletic on the penultimate weekend of the campaign.
Ahead of their first-ever Championship season, Wrexham have been very busy making strong additions to their squad. Lewis O’Brien was the statement arrival from Nottingham Forest, with Keiffer Moore a smart addition to their forward line in a deal that was also seen as good business by selling club, Sheffield United. Across the divide in the Steel City, Josh Windass left Sheffield Wednesday on a free amid all the off-field issues currently surrounding the Owls. Leicester City duo Danny Ward and Conor Coady provide much-needed experience. Ryan Hardie is an astute pick-up, adding some much-needed youthfulness in an ageing front line. Completing the Welsh sides’ business to date are George Thomason from Bolton Wanderers and left-back Liberato Cacace from Italian Serie B outfit FC Empoli. Unlike most promoted sides, but in keeping with the exciting project in North Wales, no key players have departed, with Paul Mullin the most high-profile name to leave as he joins Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan.
It has been a turbulent few years for Hull City. A Premier League club in the past decade, the Tigers dropped into League One five years ago, though they returned to the second tier at the first time of asking as Champions. In more recent times, they utilised the loan market but agonisingly missed out on the Play-Offs two years ago. Liam Rosenior was surprisingly dismissed, but their fortunes went the other way last term. Only goal difference kept the East Yorkshire outfit in the Championship, remaining in the division at the expense of Luton Town after Hull drew at Portsmouth and the Hatters lost to West Bromwich Albion. Rubén Sellés was the man tasked with keeping them in the league, taking over in December after leaving Reading, and he achieved just what he set out to do. Nevertheless, the Tigers board opted to go a different way, with Sellés ending up at the top of the division with Sheffield United. As far as Hull are concerned, Sergej Jakirović is the new man in the hotseat, with the Bosnian arriving after a brief stint in charge of Turkish outfit Kayserispor.
Despite uncertainty hanging over the club’s summer business, with a transfer embargo briefly implemented, Hull have been able to strengthen. Gustavo Puerta was the big-money arrival, following his loan on Humberside last season. Experienced Championship men, Semi Ajayi and Akin Famewo, arrived from West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday, respectively. Former Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram joins from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor, while another ex-Blade, Oli McBurnie, moves from Las Palmas. Enis Destan also arrives from Turkey, though his move is permanent, unlike his teammate, who joins on loan. Steven Alzate was the Tigers’ big outgoing, moving to the MLS with Atlanta for a sizeable fee, while Sean McLoughlin (Blackburn Rovers) and Xavier Simons (Bolton Wanderers) have also departed.
