Preston North End are reportedly monitoring a possible move for highly rated Liverpool attacker Lewis Koumas, as interest intensifies in the 19-year-old.
Following his breakthrough loan spell at Stoke City last season, Koumas is believed to be available for another move, with several Championship clubs circling.
Lilywhites Looking To Strengthen With Young Talent
Koumas made 49 appearances in all competitions for Stoke during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring six goals and earning plaudits for his fearless style and creative spark. His direct running, technical ability and goal threat have marked him out as a player with significant potential, and Preston are now among those eyeing his services.
Manager Paul Heckingbottom is still looking to shape the squad in his image. Attacking reinforcements remain a priority ahead of the transfer deadline, and Koumas could add a dynamic edge to North End’s forward options.

Competition Fierce For Wales International
Preston face strong competition for Koumas, with Championship rivals Birmingham City and Norwich City also linked. Other clubs including Sheffield United, Hull City, Oxford United and Wrexham have reportedly expressed interest, meaning Heckingbottom may need to move swiftly if North End are to win the race.
The Wales international, who already has senior caps to his name, is expected to be available on loan, though permanent or option-based deals have not been ruled out. Koumas began his career at Tranmere Rovers before joining Liverpool, where he made a senior appearance and scored in the FA Cup prior to heading to Stoke.
He would bring pace, versatility, and creativity to a Preston frontline that currently includes the likes of Emil Riis and Will Keane. Given the level of interest in Koumas, securing his signature would represent a major coup as North End aim to build on last season’s top-half finish.
Writer’s View
Lewis Koumas would be a statement addition for Preston North End: young, fearless, and proven at Championship level. Paul Heckingbottom’s recruitment so far has been steady rather than spectacular, but Koumas could change that narrative.
He fits the club’s budget-conscious model while also offering serious upside. With multiple clubs in the hunt, it’s now a question of timing and conviction. If Preston are serious about pushing toward the play-offs this season, this is exactly the type of signing that could tilt the balance in their favour.
