Our Three Predictions for Bristol Rovers vs Harrogate Town

  • First Prediction: Bristol Rovers to win – 3/4
  • Second Prediction: Over 2.5 goals to be scored – 19/20
  • Third Prediction: Promise Omochere to score at any time – 8/5

First Prediction for Bristol Rovers vs Harrogate Town – Bristol Rovers to win – 3/4

Bristol Rovers will be hoping to start their campaign back in League Two with a win, despite a busy summer of turnover. Under Darrell Clarke once more, the Gas are one of the favourites to go straight back up after the disappointment of relegation, with a positive pre-season under the belt reflecting that. In their last five fixtures of pre-season, they’ve won three, including a most recent 1-0 win against Championship side Oxford United. Their opponents, Harrogate, are a side tipped to struggle in this division this season and may take some time to get rolling, especially with a tricky start in terms of fixtures. They are a side who haven’t had a great pre-season, losing their last three fixtures, but two of those games have been against sides higher up the pyramid. On paper, Bristol Rovers have a strong squad and should be winning this opening fixture, and on top of this, have never been beaten by Harrogate in their history.

Second Prediction for Bristol Rovers vs Harrogate Town – Over 2.5 goals to be scored – 19/20

With it being the first game of the season, both sides will be a bit rusty, meaning there could be more goals scored than usual as teams get up to speed. Although Clarke’s side have made improvements defensively, the backline still features a few players who were a part of a defence that conceded 76 goals in 46 games last season. The same could be said for Harrogate, although changes have been made to the backline, they conceded 61 goals last season, and have conceded eight goals in their last three pre-season games. This could mean this game might be a high-scoring affair to kick things off for both sides.

Third Prediction for Bristol Rovers vs Harrogate Town – Promise Omochere to score at any time – 8/5

24-year-old striker Omochere came with a high price tag when he signed for a six-figure fee last season, but he hasn’t quite lived up to the price tag so far. His injury-riddled campaign saw him play just 22 times last season, scoring four goals. However, the Irishman is talented and has opened his goal account in pre-season, and could be one to watch this season if the club can keep him fit and firing on all cylinders, whilst playing to his strengths, especially in a lower league that has less quality than last season.

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-To-Head

Both of these sides struggled last season, the Gas experiencing relegation back down the fourth tier whilst Weaver’s side finished 18th, 11 points off the drop in the end. As mentioned above, the hosts have better pre-season form coming into this game, winning three of their last five, whilst the away side have struggled, losing the last three games on the bounce, and only winning once in their last five.Β

Both sides would love to kick off their respective campaigns with three points; a win for either side could give them the momentum they need to start their seasons well, which could prove crucial.

These sides have met each other just twice in their history, with Bristol Rovers winning both matchups. The last clash between these two sides came in March 2022, Rovers winning 3-0 in their dramatic promotion-winning season thanks to a brace from Aaron Collins and another goal from former loanee Elliot Anderson.Β
